SLOW DOWN and WEAR HELMETS

Today the most horrific thing happened in our neighborhood. Malia's friend got hit by a car in front of her house which is kitty corner from us. Her and Malia had been riding bikes and I called Malia in so we could think about getting dinner started. About 5 min. later I heard a car drive past and then this huge noise. We have construction going on by the house but it sounded odd enough to me that I looked out the window and saw A. not moving crumpled on the road in front of her house. I thought she was dead. My neighbor and I ran outside and Anne went to check on A. and I ran into her house to get her mom and call 911. Another neighbor who is a firefighter got there and about this time A. was just waking up and starting to cry. Thankfully the fire station is only 3 blocks away and it got there fast. We knew for sure she had a broken arm and lots of road rash. They were really worried about brain trauma. Unfortunately she wasn't wearing a helmet, but luckily the MRI said she only had a concussion. This was a hit and run. Either the driver didn't know they hit her or they are to scared to come forward. It makes me physically ill. This easily could have happened to any of our neighbor kids. We have a lot of them. Malia had been out there 5 minutes earlier. So needless to say we are getting a helmet today and it is going to be worn.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE---Slow Down and watch for little kids.

Digging to China and a couple of other projects

So about 2 weeks ago our pipe broke that gets us our secondary water to water the lawn. Robbie turned the water off and was going to do it sometime later. Well I decided it was later. Monday I started digging the pipe up. We found where it was broke and Robbie gave a family home evening on how to do PVC piping. The next morning the water gets turned on about 6 and at 7 I go out to water. Well the hole is still filled with water. I dig some more. At this point I am laying on my stomach because the hole is so deep I can't reach anything. I'm sure the neighbors enjoyed that, me dirty sprawled out all over the place. I dig far enough to realize it may not be me but the Weber water pipe that comes into my property. I call the guy and he comes over and is totally new to the job and isn't sure but suggests I dig it out some more.

So this is me digging out some more. Totally ridicules. And yes I dug most of the deep hole with that little shovel in my hand because I couldn't get the big ones in the hole with me. Hopefully the guy will come today and fix it.

So while I have some down time from digging, me in all of my brilliance decides I am going to refinish the hardwoods. I sanded them down, stained and then polyurethaned them. I am pretty sure that the headache I have right now is not caffeine induced but is giving it to me good with a chemical buzz. Yuck!! AND while I had down time from that, I decided to refinish my dining room table to match my benches. My table is a natural pine color and the benches are walnut and black. So my pointer finger is cramped from spray painting the table legs black and the stain I put on really wasn't walnut so I have to redo that because it is ugly. UGGGH!!
I need to get a job!!!

Skylers 2 and Maren is still younger than me

Maren's birthday was on Wed. and I wanted to take her out for lunch and to get our toes done. Plans got changed so I brought lunch to her from Cafe Rio and decided to give her a pedicure and do her toes. I think I have found my new calling. She only yelped once so the pain was not so severe. I am really lucky to have a sister. It makes me sad for Malia sometimes that she doesn't have one. Maren and I were each others best friends and worst enemies. Thankfully we grew up and live close to each other. I am glad that I am done having kids and she is still having them. I now get to be the aunt that gets to babysit and take him with me and I love it. I would have lost my mind if Maren hadn't been around when I had the boys. 1976

I love having Skyler so close. I love that little stinker. I honestly can't believe that he is 2. It has gone by so fast. One minute I was watching him as a baby and now he is wearing Bob the Builder underwear and calling me and telling me he went pee in the potty. Crazy. I love this little kid. Skyler giving his best smile while Malia is putting the head lock on him
Maren made this cake. She is so creative. Skyler loved it.

Tanner and family, Layne and family and Malia and me came to celebrate birthday #2.

Cheerleading?? What was I thinking??

Monday and Tuesday Malia attended cheerleader camp. It was crazy. I swear there were a million little girls there learning the ice cream and cake dance. One of the days I stuffed my headphones in my ears and laid my head on the table to drowned out the noise of super high pitch screams. Malia loved it though. How stinking cute am I?? OH YA super CUTE!!!!!
I dragged poor B and M into it. Malia and her goldenlocks friend are the only girls that did both football camp and the cheerleader camp. I really think I confuse her-girly girl or jock
Malia is right there don't you see her?!! Dancing on the V.
Malia never fails though to bring it back down to what she really loves. All dressed up in Dads clothes. Love that girl

Baby Blessing

Saturday I didn't have any football games to go to because Malia and I were in Idaho so we decided to go see D play. He did really good. They lost but he played like a mad man. Sunday Corey and Jen blessed their 4th little girl and so we went to church and Corey gave a really great blessing on her. We then went back to their home and had some seriously fabulous food. That baby was so loved I didn't even get to hold her. One of the things I really miss about Idaho is not seeing my sister-in-laws. I really am lucky that I love all 10 of my sister in laws. The Gunter girls are awesome. We all got married with in about 2 years of each other and so we all are the same age. Our children are really close in age as well. I miss those girls.
Carrie and Kristy
The Gunter cousins
Grandpa Kent, Jeff my father in law, Corey, and Vickie my mother in law
Grandma Gloria
We had such a great time spending time with Mom and Dad and then seeing in laws on Sunday. When we go up we normally only spend a day or 2 so 4 days was really long on Malia. She really missed her Dad and was really glad to be going home.

Happy 98th Birthday Grandpa!!!

Last week Malia and I skipped school and went to Idaho for Grandpa's 98th Birthday. I am so glad we were able to go and see him and my extended family. I haven't seen my grandpa for some time and I think he is doing really good. My grandpa is an incredible man. When he was young he had polio and shouldn't have been able to walk but with a lot of time and work he was able to. His mother died when he was young and he went to live with relatives in Utah. I can't imagine how hard that had to have been for him. He only went to school until the eighth grade but he is one of the smartest men I know. He has an incredible memory and can recite poem after poem. He was a fireman at the site in Idaho as well as a farmer. I always loved going to the farm and "help" feed the cows and then help grandma feed the calves. He always has popcorn at the house. We would go up on Sundays and spend the day and then watch Mutual of Omaha animal Kingdom and the Sunday Disney movie and eat popcorn. I loved this. I have an amazing grandpa and am so glad that Malia gets to know him a little bit.
Carrie, Grandpa, Mom, and Malia. 4 generations.
I have not seen my cousins for so long. This is Stephen. He is an attorney. Amy is now moving back home with parents while her husband is off to Iraq for 6 months.
My cousin Debra-She is a marathon momma, Aunt Marilyn my moms sister, mom, and Aunt Diantha Uncle Brent's wife.
Grandpa and Jim-I always want to call him Uncle Jim. He is Debra's husband.
Jim was getting pretty creative on Malia's face with the marker. Meena thought it was awesome.Zeke and Malia. Zeke is Amy's youngest son.
Hailey, Stephen and Barrett. Halie is going to be going to college this fall and is Jim and Debra's daughter.
I had so much fun seeing everyone. I really am blessed to have such a great family both on my side as well as Robbie's.

Kindergarten pictures

So as I was looking for the kids' first day of school photos I came across all of our Kindergarten photos. Robbie Kim-1975Carrie Lynn-1979 Britton Hamilton-1999 Breckin Lynn-2001

Malia Kim-2007

FOOTBALL all day long

Today the boys had their first games of the season and I didn't take one photo. Nice. Britton plays at 12 every Saturday and Breckin plays as 3. So this is our schedule. We clean house and eat and load the car up with an assortment of junk to keep us occupied until 10:30am. Run and grab Robbie from the school and hustle to where ever we are going. Brit has to be there at 11amSo we sit and watch the game before us and then watch Brit play. He ends at 1:30pm. They played Jordon and won 28-6. He plays quarterback and safety. Normally since I packed lunch we would sit and eat it between game but Sat. Utah was playing Michigan. So this is what we did.
We found a KFC with a TV. Unfortunately it only had a really bad antennae and so Robbie spent the entire time we were there tuning the TV. What a Freak. After we left to watch Breckins game( he beat Jordon 18-0. He plays center, nose guard, and kicker) Robbie got texts from his friend every few minutes. We were at games from 11 until 5.
The life of a football family.

First top tooth gone

The week before school started Malia lost another tooth. One of her top teeth. Her other top one is loose and will be coming out soon.

Malia's 6th birthday

The second day of school ended up being Malia's birthday. She turned 6 and has been so excited by this. She got a scooter and new bedding(her request). I got to go to school and do a star student poster on her. I recycled the one I did in Kindergarten. We also went to a huge bouncy toy place called Kangaroo Zoo. It was so much fun. We took Skyler and M and B. These toys are seriously fun and it would be awesome to have an adult party there.
M, B, and Meena getting eaten by the croc.
Skyler loved the inflatable. He was all over the place.
They have huge slides and this is Malia enjoying one of them

First days of school

I love the first day of school. I love the new clothes and getting to meet your teacher and seeing your friends again. I love the new pencils and paper and especially crayons. I still buy myself new crayons every year. These are the first day of school photos I could find. I have more, but they are hiding somewhere and I can't find them right now. Scot and Carrie-1st grade and 5th grade. We walked to Greenacres.

Breckin and Britton-Kindergarten and 2nd grade. Going to Pioneer Elementary in Idaho
