We had an amazing activity that we have been working on since January. At the first of the year we gave the girls each a Book of Mormon with their names inscribed on them. We challenged them to finish reading it by the end of the school years which was May 31, 2008. During this 6 months we have done some activities that went along with our reading. We had a King Noah Murder Mystery dinner, we have been to Temple square, we had a fabulous trivia game that was extremely messy but lots of fun. 
So Tuesday was the culmination of this activity. We asked all of the girls fathers to dress up as Book of Mormon prophets and as the writers of the gold plates. I had J.L sing For Our Day. She was amazing. The fathers were given a script to memorize and most of them did. they said their part and then they passed the gold plates down so the girls visually were able to see Lehi getting the brass plates and handing them down to Nephi, Jacob, Enos, Jarom, Omni, Amaron, Chemish, Abinadom, Amaleki, King Benjamin, Mormon, Moroni, and Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith (who was our bishop and did his hair just like Joseph Smith did) then gave the Book of Mormon to one of the girls and said, "You have been saved for these days, before he comes again. I Pass this book onto you. What will you do with this sacred record?" J.L. then sang The Olive Tree

We wanted the choice of whether they read the Book of Mormon to be theirs and to see that their actions and choices affect their lives. We wanted Group 1 to be like the Telestial kingdom, group 2 to be the Terestial kingdom, and group 3 to be the Celestial kingdom.
Group 1 ate Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, bought cookies, chips, and a juice box. We had 10 in this group and only 8 lunches. Group 2 went to a leaders home and had a BBQ. There were 3 in this group. Group 3 went to another leaders home and she had a table set with china and crystal, rose petals on the table and her nieces served the girls. They had salad, roll, raspberry butter, cordon bleu, green beans, twice baked potatoes, sparkling lemonade, and dessert.We had 6 in this group. The girls didn't know what anyone else had eaten until Sunday.
On Sunday we talked about choices and agency and how they directly relate to where we will end up in the eternities. I had 1 girl from each group talk about what they ate and their experience. In one family we had a mom( she is my first counselor) finish so she was in group 3, 1 daughter that was 20 chapter from finishing, and 2 daughters that were in group 1. We talked about how this family would be separated in the eternities if it was based solely on their Book of Mormon reading. I hope the girls got something out of it. I know that it had a great affect on me and the things that I do.
